All about Dave

Well, here’s how I came to be The Wandering Brit:

I was born and raised in a city on the south coast of England called Brighton. It wasn’t until my adult years that I would realise how awesome Brighton is, how much I love it, and how much I would come to miss it on leaving it.

When I was in college, I had the sudden urge one day to get into photography and ended up buying a camera and joining an online artist’s community. This community helped me to grow as an artist and also was the source of a good number of friends, both locally and internationally. One of these friends went by the name of Martina: a friend I would end up marrying, but not before graduating with a BEng in Civil Engineering and saying goodbye to my friends and family.

On August 8th, 2006 I flew into Tampa airport to finally be with the one I love. It took a number of months for immigration issues to get ironed out and for me to then find a job, but now I am gainfully employed as a Civil Engineer in the Tampa area. I continue to try and get out and do some photography every now and then, but time is tight.

I love to explore, a trait which has taken me to many places around the world, but not nearly as many as I’d like to, so I plan to continue travelling just as soon as time and money permits. In the meantime, I just wander around, and marvel at this incredibly different culture and society I find myself in, blogging on my sights, opinions and thoughts.
